SPEAKING
Psychology doesn't stay in the therapy room.
Keynotes and conversations about identity, ambition, leadership, motherhood, belonging, and the nervous system underneath it all.
I’m Dr. Sahar Martinez—a therapist, professor, founder, and speaker bringing psychological insight into the places where we live, lead, work, create, care for others, and figure out who we’re becoming.
The conversations worth having are usually about what's beneath the surface.
Why do smart, capable people stay stuck in patterns they understand intellectually? Why can growth feel threatening even when it's exactly what we wanted?
My work brings psychology out of the therapy room and into the conversations we're already having about leadership, work, motherhood, identity, relationships, mental health, and culture.
I combine clinical insight, storytelling, research, and a healthy skepticism of easy answers to help audiences understand not only what they're experiencing—but what might be happening underneath it.

The Quiet Art of Not Quitting
We love a transformation story once we know how it ends.
The career change. The reinvention. The business that finally worked. The relationship that healed. The person who became someone they barely recognize.
What we talk about less is the enormous stretch of uncertainty between the before and after.
The Long Middle explores what happens when an old identity no longer fits, but the next one hasn't fully arrived.
Drawing from psychology, attachment, nervous-system science, and nearly two decades of clinical work, Sahar explores why periods of transition can feel so destabilizing—especially for capable, high-achieving people accustomed to knowing what comes next.
This is a conversation about perseverance without self-abandonment, the discomfort of becoming, and learning to build a life without requiring constant proof that you're doing it right.
Themes: Identity · Transition · Ambition · Leadership · Perseverance
Ideal for: Leadership and women's conferences, universities, professional organizations, founder communities, and teams navigating change.

The Psychology Behind How We Lead, Decide, and Grow
Not every business decision is a business decision.
Sometimes perfectionism is protection.
Sometimes procrastination is fear.
Sometimes "I need to think about it" means your nervous system has quietly pulled the emergency brake.
Our nervous systems influence how we respond to uncertainty, visibility, conflict, risk, money, growth, and failure—often long before our rational minds enter the conversation.
In this talk, Sahar brings psychology into entrepreneurship and leadership, helping audiences recognize when protective patterns are masquerading as strategy.
Because sometimes the thing limiting growth isn't the business plan.
It's what your nervous system believes will happen if the plan actually works.
Themes: Psychology · Entrepreneurship · Leadership · Decision-Making · Nervous System
Ideal for: Founder communities, leadership teams, executive retreats, entrepreneurial conferences, accelerators, and women's business organizations.

What Happens When the Life You Built No Longer Fits
Motherhood didn't make me less ambitious. It made me question what I was willing to sacrifice in the name of ambition.
Motherhood is often discussed as a logistical transition: childcare, schedules, leave policies, work-life balance. But psychologically, it can be something much larger. It can rearrange identity, values, relationships, time, work, and our definition of enough.
This talk explores motherhood as a profound developmental transition—and what happens when the version of success you spent years building no longer fits the person you've become.
Because changing what you want isn't the same thing as wanting less.
Themes: Motherhood · Identity · Leadership · Ambition · Values
Ideal for: Women's leadership conferences, employee resource groups, working-parent initiatives, healthcare organizations, maternal-health communities, and professional women's organizations.

Visibility, Belonging, and the Psychology of Being Seen Online
Human beings are wired for belonging.
Then we invented follower counts.
For creators, entrepreneurs, leaders, and anyone building a life or career online, the internet can become a strange psychological experiment in visibility.
Likes become feedback. Views become validation. Algorithms become unpredictable attachment figures deciding whether we're seen.
And somewhere along the way, creativity, identity, belonging, validation, and livelihood can become almost impossible to separate.
This talk explores the psychology of visibility and what attachment theory can teach us about building a healthier relationship with being seen.
Because your audience can witness your work.
They cannot tell you who you are.
Themes: Creator Psychology · Visibility · Attachment · Belonging · Sustainable Influence
Ideal for: Creator conferences, media organizations, brand teams, agencies, universities, marketing communities, and people whose work requires them to exist publicly online.

Rethinking Who Pays the Price for Affordable Mental Healthcare
Mental-health care should be accessible. Therapists should also be able to pay their rent. Both things can be true.
For decades, attempts to make therapy more affordable have often relied on clinicians absorbing the cost through low wages, unpaid labor, overwhelming caseloads, and burnout framed as service. Clinician exploitation is not a sustainable mental-health access strategy.
Drawing from her experience building both The Process Wellness Collective and The Process Wellness Foundation, Sahar explores what becomes possible when we stop treating accessibility and clinician sustainability as competing priorities.
The question isn't simply:
How do we make therapy cheaper?
It's:
How do we build systems of care where both the people receiving care and the people providing it can thrive?
Themes: Mental-Health Systems · Equity · Clinician Sustainability · Workforce Development · Access
Ideal for: Healthcare systems, behavioral-health organizations, universities, mental-health conferences, foundations, nonprofits, healthcare leadership, and organizations thinking seriously about the future of mental-health care.
Meet Dr. Sahar Martinez
Dr. Sahar Martinez, Psy.D., LMFT, PMH-C, is a therapist, professor, founder, speaker, and mental-health advocate exploring the psychology underneath how we live, lead, relate, work, parent, and change.
For nearly two decades, her work has moved between the therapy room, university classroom, leadership conversations, and community mental-health systems.
Her approach combines clinical expertise, storytelling, cultural context, and a belief that the most interesting human experiences rarely have simple answers.
